District Stations. The District's stations are located throughout the Key Peninsula and on Herron Island. Each station has a mix of staffing and equipment that allows the District to provide services required by the community. The headquarters station is located in Key Center.
Pierce County Fire Protection District No. 16, known as The Key Peninsula Fire Department was incorporated in 1952. The District is a combination fire department providing fire protection, rescue, emergency medical services, and prevention services to the communities located on the Key Peninsula.
2 Αυγ 2023 · Key Peninsula Fire District 16 has often been in the news over the last year about money, as seen in public reaction to its purchase of Key Center real estate at the end of 2021 and calls from some quarters to increase its line personnel to provide more coverage to the peninsula.
30 Νοε 2023 · The Key Peninsula Board of Fire Commissioners unanimously voted to approve its 2024 budget for the KP fire district Nov. 14, calling for projected expenditures of some $13.9 million. It’s an 8% increase in overall expenses over the 2023 budget.
Pierce County Fire District 16 operates as Key Peninsula Fire Department. Stations 44, 46, 47, & 49 are staffed 24/7 with career firefighters. Stations 45 & 48 are unstaffed.
