The South end of the Kiamichi Trace is at Beavers Bend State Park on Broken Bow Lake. Rent a cabin or camp out on the shores of the peaceful lake, or at least spend an afternoon exploring the many coves and crannies on the water via canoe or kayak.

It combines food, drink, music, dance, art and culture to celebrate the older, more rugged ways of life. Musicians play everything from folkish flutes to bluegrass banjos and mandolins.

The Choctaw Nation Trail covers SE Oklahoma from McAlester to Broken Bow. There are several low-water crossings in the Kiamichi Mountains around Perkins, Cloudy, and Battiest.
