Backpacks and school supplies are collected June – August. You must live in Scott, Carver, or Dakota County and have children in school (up to 12th grade). The program is open to current CAP clients. Families sign up with CAP program staff. Sign-ups are now open for 2024!

Invest in students across the country by making a donation. Every dollar contributes to providing supplies. Kids In Need Foundation serves students and teachers in schools with a population of 70% or more enrolled in the government’s free and reduced lunch program.
Free school supplies in your area for 2024. Find where to get free back to school supplies for students from low to moderate income families. People in need will get help from the Salvation Army, national retailers, churches, or charities in their community that help students from grades K-12.
Kids In Need Foundation works to ensure that every child is prepared to learn & succeed in the classroom by providing free school supplies nationally to kids most in need.
Since inception we’ve given our more than 11 million free school supplies by partnering with schools, government agencies, and community organizations. We distribute these supplies in the form of Back 2 School kits, each containing approximately 30 grade-appropriate school supplies.
