Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (klia2) is built to cater the boom for Asian budget travel with aims to provided connectivity for both international and local budget & full fledged airlines. The budget terminal was officially opened on May 2, 2014.
The Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) is located about 20km away from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s Main Terminal Building (MTB). The primary road access from Kuala Lumpur is North Central Link Expressway (ELITE Highway) , North South Expressway (PLUS Highway) , KESAS Highway and Lebuhraya Damansara Puchong (LDP) Highway .
All of Air Asia's flights to and from Kuala Lumpur use the "LCCT" as it's called, and only a few other budget airlines use the terminal. While the low-cost terminal is at KLIA, it is a long way from the main terminal building.
23 Μαρ 2006 · The Low-Cost Carrier Terminal, or LCCT, was a project specifically designed and built to accommodate the high growth of passenger movements for the Low Cost Airlines, especially the passengers of Malaysia’s first ‘no-frills’ airline, Air Asia.
However, some airlines will call them Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Other airlines will call the Main Terminal “Terminal M” or “TM”. The Contact Pier is sometimes referred to as CP1. International passengers travelling through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) have to pay RM65 as airport tax while the domestic charge remains at RM9. The airport tax for international travellers at low-cost carrier terminals (LCCT) has been increased to RM32 from RM25.
