Klebsiella pneumoniae has been the main producer of the KPC type class A carbapenemases so far and has become one of the major threats in clinical practice (Table 1). 2 Of note, despite the majority of data coming from infections due to KPC, several studies include other types of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae.
