The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (also known as "Metro", "MTA", or "LACMTA") operates a vast fleet of buses for its Metro Bus and Metro Busway services. As of September 2019, Metro has the third largest bus fleet in North America with 2,320 buses.
Los Angeles Metro Bus is the transit bus service in Los Angeles County, California operated by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro). In 2023, the system had a ridership of 222,919,700, or about 756,700 per weekday as of the second quarter of 2024.
Metro inherited all of the bus service formerly operated by the RTD as well as the fledgling Metro Rail network: the entire Metro Blue Line from Los Angeles to Long Beach, as well as the initial operating segment of the Metro Red Line subway that had only been open for several months.
