30 Δεκ 2008 · Actually back in the 1930's or so 1700kc would have been a police frequency. The problem with San Diego's AM 1700 is that it has fewer listeners than police radio (and I wonder if the city has ever thought about raising money by selling 10 second ads on police radio?).
The mountaintop is the site of the Mount Soledad cross and there are several radio and television transmitters located on the summit including television channels 8 and 10, the CBS and ABC affiliates respectively as well as NOAA Weather Radio transmitter.
