Now we are releasing a new version, Komodo 14, which is even stronger (more than 40 Elo points). But apart from pure strength this program displays superb positional play. And it can be set to different playing styles: aggressive, defensive, active, positional, endgame, beginner and human.

26 Απρ 2022 · Komodo Dragon 3 is now available at komodochess.com. It is a significant improvement over the last release 2.6.1, about 17 elo based on 30,000 direct games (20 elo in MCTS mode, 6000 games) on one thread with normal openings at 2' + 1", about double that with unbalanced openings (UHO22 book by S. Pohl).
Dragon 2.6 is a huge strength improvement over Dragon 2, roughly 70 elo at blitz on four threads and 83 elo on one, more than 100 elo in MCTS mode and for playing Fischerandom (chess960). It is a significant improvement over Dragon 2.5, about 18 elo on one thread blitz, about 25 elo in MCTS mode or playing chess960.
Currently Komodo is leading, and conveniently is released as a brand-new ChessBase engine. But is it really the one that ambitious chess players should use (or switch to)? Chess book reviewer John Hartmann offers some very useful advice.
