Kontakt is an industry standard sample host plugin. You should absolutely have Kontakt in your library, and you can start with the free Kontakt player. Is Kontakt worth it for the full version? Short answer, no, very overpriced to buy anything Native Instruments standalone. Don't buy Kontakt 7 standalone. Is Komplete worth it?
If you do decide to get Kontakt, check out Embertone. They have a few good freebies. Maybe you'll find an orchestral library which works in the free kontakt player, then you could buy the library and immediately use it without having to pay for Kontakt.
Kontakt is the best sampler on the market so if you're getting into sampling then it's a no brainer. Get it with Komplete though because there's a lot of great stuff in that package: Reaktor6, Battery4, Guitar Rig (great for synths), Monark, Massive, FM8, Absynth on and on.
15 Ιαν 2022 · Kontakt is definitely worth it. Get a free or cheap Kontakt Player library, like Embertone Arcane, and you become eligible for a crossgrade at half the price you posted. Currently the full version and crossgrade are the same price for $199 (full discounted 50% from $399 and crossgrade discounted 20% from $249).
According to what I've read on forums, Kontakt 4.1 offers the most comprehensive conversions, but K5 still does a reasonable job at capturing the most crucial aspects — zones, velocity ranges and key mapping.
