Now that Kontakt 6 is out, I'm wondering how people feel about it compared to Kontakt 5. Is it pretty much the same, or have there been any significant changes? Does it affect performance differently? Are there any new modules that you find worthwhile?
Kontakt is a digital sampler. It’s very good. If you need a sampler, this one is solid. It’s especially good at handling multi-samples. There is a big user library of pre-sampled instruments. Kontrol is the name of their hardware MIDI controller range. Komplete is the name of their software plugin bundles.
I can get Kontakt for $125 as I already own a qualifying native instrument product. Is this worth it for a beginner or is there a better alternative for me at this stage? Thanks for any insights.
Kontakt 6 player on its own doesn't do anything. It's only meant for using Kontakt Play supported libraries (like all the 49 dollar libraries you're referring to.) There are some free ones like Embertone's Arcane or Sonnicouture's rocksichord, so you could check those out.
I think Omnisphere has a lot more versatility than Kontakt, also Omnisphere can work out of the box without libraries. I'd personally recommend UVI Falcon instead of Omnisphere. But it really depends in what do you need to integrate into your production.
According to what I've read on forums, Kontakt 4.1 offers the most comprehensive conversions, but K5 still does a reasonable job at capturing the most crucial aspects — zones, velocity ranges and key mapping.
14 Ιαν 2019 · Kontakt 6 Upgrade: New Effects. Kontakt 6 now includes Replika Delay which is based on the NI plug-in REPLIKA XT, 3 algorithmic reverbs (Room Reverb, Hall Reverb andPlate Reverb) and Cry Wah, a classic wah-wah effect normally used on guitars.
