When babies cannot feed at the breast comfortably and effectively, and breastfeeding support is hard to find or not able to help, mothers may choose to use a breast pump to express all the milk their baby needs, and then feed via a bottle or feeding tube. This is known as exclusive pumping.
What is La Leche League? La Leche League (pronounced LA LE CHAY - 'the milk' in Spanish) is an international charitable organisation founded to give information and encouragement, mainly through mother-to-mother support, to all women who want to breastfeed their babies.
Breastmilk is tailor-made for your baby. It boosts your baby’s ability to fight illness and infection - babies who are not breastfed are more likely to get diarrhoea and chest infections. Exclusive breastfeeding is recommended for around the first 6 months and alongside solid foods thereafter.
