20 Ιαν 2024 · Canaletes Fountain in Barcelona. On the Rambla de Canaletes, the initial stretch of La Rambla near the Plaça de Catalunya, you’ll find one of the best known monuments in Barcelona, the Canaletes Fountain (in Spanish Fuente de Canaletas, in Catalan Font de Canaletes).
La Rambla & Barri Gòtic. The section of La Rambla immediately south of Plaça de Catalunya is named after this inconspicuous turn-of-the-20th-century drinking fountain and lamppost, the water of which supposedly emerges from what were once known as the springs of Canaletes.
The Canaletas Fountain is where Football Club Barcelona fans (known as Cules or Culers) come to celebrate the club’s victories. This tradition dates back to the 1930s when the newspaper La Rambla had its offices in front of the fountain.
