Roxette is a Swedish pop rock duo consisting of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle. The two were already established musicians in Sweden prior to Roxette's formation. Fredriksson had released a number of successful solo albums, while Gessle had been the lead singer and songwriter of Gyllene Tider, a band which had three number one albums in Sweden.

27 Ιαν 2024 · The name was Gessle’s idea and it came from a song called exactly “Roxette” from the British band Dr. Feelgood. The track was featured on their 1974 album “Down By The Jetty” and it was written by the late guitarist Wilko Johnson.
