Online Permits and Record Search. The following services are available online: Express Pemits (permits that do not require plan check) at https://permitla.lacitydbs.org/. Search for building records at https://ladbsdoc.lacity.org/. Electronic plan review (ePlanLA) is available for the following types of applications: - Soft-story Retrofit.
The use of a Standard Plan greatly reduces the time required for plan check. Permits can therefore be issued much faster for structures such as swimming pools, metal patio covers, stairways, signs, etc. Standard Plans are not approved until LADBS has verified compliance with the Building Code.
BATHROOM REMODEL/REPAIR: The Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) Electronic Permit System allows for the issuance of a "combined" building permit to repair and/or replace cabinets, flooring, wall finishes, tile, counters, and plumbing/electrical fixtures only.
