23 state or county beaches in Southern California allow camping including popular beaches like San Clemente, Carpinteria, El Capitan, Gaviota, Hearst San Simeon, Morro Bay, and Montana de Oro. Reservations for campsites and lodging can be made six months in advance of the arrival date. Each new date opens at 8 a.m. PST/PDT. Bookings may be extended from the arrival date to the desired departure date – based on availability and the park’s maximum stay rules.

Anthony Chabot Family Campground, overlooking Lake Chabot, is a year-round getaway only 35 minutes from downtown Oakland and Oakland International Airport.
Reservations are coordinated through ReserveCalifornia.com or the Customer Contact Center, which is available 7 days a week at 1-800-444-7275 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Inland sites are $35, and ocean sites are $50. Hookups are an additional $25. Double-hookup sites are $100 total. Limited ADA-accessible campsites are available as well.
