When it comes to ice fishing Lake of the Woods, there seems to never be a shortage of action. On the good days you are slamming trophy walleye and on the slow days you are slamming sauger, burbot, with plenty of slot fish mixed in.

30 Ιουλ 2024 · The lake’s structure is ideal for walleye fishing, featuring numerous rocky points, deep basins, and submerged humps. During the early season (spring), walleyes are typically found near rocky points close to spawning areas, at depths of 15 to 20 feet.
15 Δεκ 2021 · As the season progresses the walleyes move out deeper. We did not catch many on spoons nor on deadsticks, the aggressive approach playing “keep away” with the rippin raps seemed to trigger the walleyes (saugers ate anything).
These areas support such game fish species as: Walleye, Sauger, Perch and Northerns. Due to water clarity, the best fishing is from dawn to dusk. Lake of the Woods offers generous limits of walleye and sauger to anglers. The season runs until mid-April.
7 Φεβ 2023 · Ice roads and ice trails are extending out on Lake of the Woods looking to connect with schools of walleyes and saugers. Some ice roads are out as far as 24 miles. The subzero cold snap is good for extending ice into March, but it was tough on the bite.
