Results. Water samples of 150 ml each were collected from Lake Pichhola, Fatehsagar and Swaroop Sagar Lake's water. It was observed that different bacterial colonies were isolated from the water of these three lakes. Colonies varied from circuar, irregular margins as well as rhizoidal and filamentous in shape.
Fecal coliforms, particularly E. coli, indicate that there are mammal or bird feces in the water. Enterococcus bacteria also indicate that there feces from warm blooded animals in the water. Enterococcus are a type of fecal streptococci.
