23 Ιουλ 2024 · Let me just say it up front: the hike to Tamanawas Falls blew our expectations out of the water and earned itself a spot on our list of the best hikes near Mt. Hood (and the best hikes in Oregon, too). The reward for the relatively small effort is a towering waterfall plunging off of a rocky shelf and into Cold Spring Creek 110 feet below.
The falls are located at the culmination of the trail and are beautiful! It is a refreshing site to be greeted to at the end of a hike. While the falls itself are not huge, it is tall and the hike takes you to possibly the best vantage point from which to view the falling waters.
Punchbowl Falls (there are two with this name in the area) is a small waterfall along the West Fork of the Hood River where the stream flows between the cliffs. A fish ladder is located next to these falls.
