Panzerkampfwagen VIII Maus (English: 'mouse') is a German World War II super-heavy tank completed in July of 1944. It is the heaviest fully enclosed armored fighting vehicle ever built.
The Landkreuzer P. 1000 "Ratte" (English: Land Cruiser P. 1000 "Rat") was a design for a 1000-ton tank to be used by Germany during World War II which may have been proposed by Krupp director Edward Grote in June 1942, who had already named it " Landkreuzer " ("Land cruiser").
The Panzer VIII Maus (German for “Mouse”) super-tank certainly falls into the latter category. The Maus was a 188-ton behemoth developed by Porsche at the behest of Hitler himself. Impractical does not begin to describe it, and the timing of its introduction was stupefying.
