Scientists from Tohoku University (Miura et al, 2001) and Tokyo University (Satake et al., 2008) found tsunami deposits of 10-40 cm around Sendai plain. These studies show that the tsunami inundated 4 km inland and the simulation results show that the tsunami may have reached a height of 8 m.
