Laryngeal paralysis (LP) is a common cause of upper airway obstruction resulting from a dysfunction of the recurrent laryngeal nerve(s) resulting in paresis progressing to paralysis of all intrinsic laryngeal muscles, except for the cricothyroid muscle.
