15 Νοε 2023 · Laryngeal injuries are rare but life-threatening airway emergencies. Increased understanding of the epidemiology of these injuries can inform treatment and improve outcomes. We aimed to characterize the demographics and management of adult laryngeal trauma.
There are two types of laryngeal trauma: penetrating and blunt. Laryngeal injuries may heal, even with a minor injury, fibrous union, a deformity, and impaired laryngeal function [1 - 9]. These wounds can be penetrating or blunt and can develop in the supraglottic, glottic, or infraglottic areas.

Laryngeal trauma is often associated with other injuries, including intracranial injuries, penetrating neck injuries, cervical spine fractures, and facial fractures.
