From the looks of Las Lomas, they are townhome style. This is very nice for having people over or enjoying yourself with your roommates. Unfortunately it just can’t match the social experience of having 60 people in a hall just a foot away.
You should check with Housing to see if Freshmen are eligible for Las Lomas, According to the housing web (https://housing.uci.edu/first-year/), you're only eligible for Residence Halls (Mesa and Middle). Las Lomas is for current students this upcoming year since they're June-June housing agreements now.
Las Lomas is an apartment community serving undergraduate students. Located adjacent to the campus core near the Schools of Engineering and Computer Science, Las Lomas will house 178 undergraduates in 2- and 3-bedroom apartments.

Move-in takes place on June 23, 2024 in Las Lomas Apartments. Your housing assignment will be sent to your UCI email in late-May and will include an arrival time window and parking and check-in instructions.
Housing Options: Arroyo Vista, Las Lomas Apartments, Residence Halls. Las Lomas is a year-round option, from June 2024-June 2025. Arroyo Vista and the Residence Halls are academic year options, from September 2024 – June 2025.
In order to make the transition as seamless as possible, current Las Lomas residents are guaranteed alternative housing at the Miramonte Rental Townhomes, a new rental community for faculty and staff (view the Miramonte Rental Townhomes brochure by clicking on the button to the right).
