1 Σεπ 2023 · Furosemide (Lasix, Salix) is a diuretic, or “water pill,” that’s used to treat congestive heart failure and other conditions in dogs. Furosemide works by removing fluid from the body by increasing urine production. The potential side effects of furosemide include increased urination, gastrointestinal effects, and dehydration.

12 Σεπ 2019 · The most common furosemide in dogs side effects include transient diarrhea, and, if dosage is not controlled, intoxication. Furosemide poisoning in dogs is serious, and if any of the below poisoning symptoms are noticed, we recommend consulting a veterinarian as soon as possible.
Some special considerations for furosemide include its potential for ototoxicity. When administered as the sole agent, furosemide in dosages > 20 mg/kg, IV, can result in loss of hearing in dogs. Dosages of 50–100 mg/kg result in profound loss of hearing.
Side Effects and/or Signs of Overdose: Side effects of diuretics include increased thirst and urination and gastrointestinal irritation. Abnormalities to fluid and electrolyte levels may occur so patients should be monitored closely for hydration status and electrolyte imbalances.
Furosemide may cause the following side effects: increased urination (most common) diarrhea. constipation. Serious adverse reactions may occur. If any of the following signs develop, stop giving furosemide and contact your veterinarian immediately: weakness. collapse. head tilt. balance problems. electrolyte imbalance. lack of urine production.
