The births didn't pick up again until the late 1970s, when the Baby Boomers got their shit together after all the turmoil and political, cultural, and economic upheaval of the 1960s and 1970s. This was the baby boom ECHO, aka the Millennial Generation (plus late Generation X in the beginning).
My mom had me and my brother in her early 20's (both gen x), a decade later she had our youngest brother (Millenial). She was a different kind of mother when I was younger: we were poor, she was getting remarried, they struggled and worked a lot and I'm pretty sure we could have died and they wouldn't have noticed.
The segmentation theory blends early generation X and late boomers into generation Jones, and blends late Gen X and early millennials into Xennials. The transition between generational cultures is not a clean cut, but rather a continuum.
