The International Precipitation Working Group (IPWG) is a permanent Working Group of the Coordination Group for Meteorological Satellites (CGMS), co-sponsored by CGMS and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
24 Νοε 2017 · The most recent (eighth) IPWG meeting was held as a joint meeting with the (fifth) IWSSM meeting in Bologna, Italy. This meeting welcomed 158 participants from 23 countries who contributed 63 oral and 88 poster presentations.
The IPWG focuses the scientific community on operational and research satellite-based quantitative precipitation measurement issues and challenges. It provides a forum for operational and research users of satellite precipitation measurements to exchange information on methods for measuring precipitation and the impact of space borne precipitation
IPWG provides a forum of discussion to scientists and users of precipitation products and fosters : The development of better measurements of precipitation through retrieval algorithms improvements. The documentation of products deficiencies through validation techniques.
18 Ιουλ 2024 · In order to be more responsive to the discussions and sentiments expressed at IPWG-10, the IPWG formed four Working Groups (WGs) and five Focus Groups (FGs). WG 1: Baseline Surface Precipitation Network. WG 2: Satellite Precipitation. WG 3: Machine Learning. WG 4: CubeSat/SmallSat WG. FG 1: Orographic Precipitation.
