Law enforcement officials shall at all times fulfil the duty imposed upon them by law, by serving the community and by protecting all persons against illegal acts, consistent with the high degree of responsibility required by their profession.
As a law enforcement officer, my fundamental duty is to serve the community; to safeguard lives and property; to protect the innocent against deception, the weak against oppression or intimidation and the peaceful against violence or disorder; and to respect the constitutional rights of all to liberty, equality and justice.

I. PURPOSE. It is the purpose of this policy to provide specificity to the standards of conduct embodied in the law enforcement officer’s code of ethics1 and this agency’s statement of values and mission, so that officers2 have a clear understanding of agency expectations pertaining to conduct and activities while on and off duty.3.
