The interdisciplinary approach of the minor in legal studies program equips you with a comprehensive understanding of legal theory, ethics, and practices and prepares you to navigate the challenges of the modern legal landscape.
J.D. Requirements. Total hours required – 86 credit hours (of which 65 must be in regularly scheduled class sessions). Classes that meet in law school classrooms on a regular basis, clinics, and approved foreign study-abroad courses are considered “regularly scheduled class sessions.”
Students must earn a minimum 2.00 grade-point-average on all minor courses taken at UNC Asheville. One-half of the hours required for a minor must be completed at UNC Asheville, to include at least 6 semester hours of 300-400 level courses.

To apply, you must: Have a bachelor’s degree from a fully accredited college or university by the date of anticipated enrollment. Have taken the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) administered by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) within the last five years. Register with the Credential Assembly Service (CAS).
