6 Ιουλ 2021 · The mold in the picture would cast 40 #4 buckshot in a single drop. The inlets were quite small so pressure-casting and hot alloy and mold were important. I'm not sure if graphite (Molykote powder) will improve patterns, I did try to tumble some, and they turned out much slicker than the naked lead balls,
9 Μαρ 2017 · The lead is usually 92-6-2 allot since I have an Automated Master Caster to cast large volumes of common pistol bullets but some times I have another alloy in the Lee bottom pour pot used with the Sharp Shooter mold. A little hard lead seems to work best for the #4 buck shot.
2 Νοε 2008 · The ONLY way I would cast buckshot is if I found a #2, #3, or #4 6 gang mold. Then I would cast from WW and drop into cold water to harden the surface. Right now I use #2, 3, &4 buck in STEEL/TUNGSTEN wads, buffered and get 20 inch patterns at 40 yards using an 11-87 12 bore with vented Primos .665 choke.
