Wow is sort of hard to explain all the nuances it really takes experience. I'd say pick a class, stick to it and get levelling. While levelling, watch videos on classic to get more understanding about other classes, how to do damage, how to do dungeons, what gear is good, etc.
The purpose of this guide is to help new players understand what their class can and can't do, how it plays, what flavour or mechanics are unique to that class, and what roles it can perform in, and also what roles it can easily access groups in.

Look up a guide for your own class. A leveling guide, while more efficient, it may detract from the experience for a new player, so make your choice. Once you reach level 65-70, you should start looking a bit more for end-game info, which is still mostly related to your class. If you play your class well, you will do well in the game.
