i'd say it's two things: the meta dimension where the campaigns themselves are movies, while the other reality is the usual narrative we are aware of as a game, where the apocalypse is real. also since the campaigns weren't connected at first, valve changed the canocity of a movie reality and apocalypse reality

FULL REVIEW. PC. 100. GameShark. Left 4 Dead 2 is the Empire Strikes Back of zombie games. The momentum has clearly swung in favor of the bad guys. But also much like Empire, this is clearly the best of the bunch and is a required purchase for fans of the genre.
