Once killed they will drop eggs which can be placed to hatch a tamed baby snake for the player. Geckos can be tamed using a slimeball.

Bring a male and a female lion into a fenced area and throw raw beef on the floor next to them (their hunger isn't refilled when you right click them with the meat, only when they pick it up from the floor). You might have to do this a couple of times as they don't eat multiple pieces right away.
