Let Us Make a Man - From this we learn the modesty of the Holy One, blessed is He. Because man was created in the image of the angels and therefore they were jealous of him, therefore He consulted them, and when He judges rulers, He consults with His heavenly counsel.

The inference that "Let us make man in our image" ((Genesis 1:26)) refers to the plurality of God is refuted by the subsequent verse, which relates the creation of man to a singular God, "And God created man in His image" ((Genesis 1:27)). In this verse the Hebrew verb "created" appears in the singular form.
“Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” (Genesis 1:26) Many Bible commentators and interpreters have discussed the meaning of the unique Hebrew word ‘Tzelem’ {צלם} which was translated to English as ‘image.’
