Leviton SmartlockPro® Self-Test GFCI devices, introduced in 2015, feature a small LED status indicator light to give you a convenient way to check the level of ground fault protection at-a-glance. GREEN LIGHT indicates the device has passed the self-test and is providing power.
Your GFCI outlet installation is a DIY project, but what happens if your GFCI is not working or won’t reset? It could be an issue of line load reversal.
Ensure that the GFCI is still in the tripped condition by pressing the TEST button. If the lamp or radio is OFF, and the GFCI will not reset, go to the Troubleshooting section as the Line and Load connections are reversed. (b) Press the RESET button fully and release. If your device has a solid or blinking red indicator LED, try pressing the Test button and then the Reset button. If your GFCI outlet will not reset, it means there is something wrong with the outlet, please replace it.
the LED indicator light is not ON and the device is unable to reset, this could be a result of no power available. If you rewired any connections to the GFCI, you must start the test from the beginning as explained in the “Test your Work” section.
If your device has a solid or blinking red indicator LED, try pressing the Test button and then the Reset button. If your GFCI outlet will not reset, it means there is something wrong with the outlet, please replace it.
If the indicator light is either not on or red you should conduct a manual test immediately. You can always conduct a manual TEST and RESET sequence to confirm the GFCI is functioning properly. If the Leviton self-test has conducted a self-test and everything has checked out OK the indicator light will be green.
