The new Archaeological Museum of Thebes occupies an exhibition area of 1.000 m2 and houses a multitude of artefacts, representing millennia of continuous human activity in Boeotia. The exhibition halls spread over two different levels, a choice dictated by the necessity to maintain the natural formation on the western slopes of the Kadmeia hill.

In the winter season (November - March) the opening hours are from 08:30 - 15:30 (09:00 - 16:00 for the major ones) and are extended during the summer ( April - October ). The last admission is 20΄ before closing time.
To date it has published more than 130 works: albums, studies on painting, folklore, architecture and history, translations of philhellenic works, publications of historical archives, educational files for students, guides to permanent exhibitions, catalogs of periodical exhibitions, calendars, etc.
