The lieutenant governor of Alberta (/ l ɛ f ˈ t ɛ n ə n t /) is the representative in Alberta of the monarch. The lieutenant governor is appointed in the same manner as the other provincial viceroys in Canada and is similarly tasked with carrying out most of the monarch's constitutional and ceremonial duties.
30 Μαΐ 2024 · 18 (1) The Lieutenant Governor in Council may, at any time when the Lieutenant Governor in Council is satisfied that an emergency exists or may exist, make an order for a declaration of a state of emergency relating to all or any part of Alberta.
Alberta’s Public Health Act allows the Lieutenant Governor to declare a ‘state of public health emergency’. The Chief Medical Officer for the province advises the Lieutenant Governor on whether or not to declare one.
30 Μαρ 2020 · The Emergency Management Act gives cabinet the power to declare a state of emergency in part or all of the province for up to 90 days in the case of a pandemic.
