There are 4 basic types of qualifying life events. (The following are examples, not a full list.) Loss of health coverage. Losing existing health coverage, including job-based coverage, individual, and student plans. Losing eligibility for Medicaid, PeachCare for Kids®, or Medicare.

You qualify for a special enrollment period if you have a certain life event. You generally have 60 days from the date of your qualifying life event to enroll for health coverage or change your plan. In most cases, you need to have proof of your life event.
