1 Μαΐ 2009 · The Life Events Inventory (LEI) is a checklist of potential stressful events for individuals to self-complete by serially scanning and ticking (true positive) if any of the 55 listed events occurred to them in the previous 6 months.
Stressful life events, or life event stressors, are undesirable, unscheduled, nonnormative, and/or uncontrollable discrete, observable events with a generally clear onset and offset that usually signify major life changes.
The Life Event Scale for Students, therefore, provides a convenient measure of experienced stress, suitable for use with a student population. Life event scales undoubtedly have their weaknesses, particularly when used with clinical populations.
23 Ιαν 2015 · Since that time, different approaches to measuring life events have been developed and refined, and debates have ensued regarding their reliability, validity, and practicality. One approach employs self‐report checklists of life events, and the other approach employs interview‐based procedures.
This article defines and describes the range of measures classified as life events scales, including assessments of major life events, stress appraisal, chronic stressors, and hassles or daily events. It also discusses the general assessment issues that life events scales aim to address in research on health and illness.

This article argues that crisis theory makes a useful contribution to these efforts, particularly when studying variable response to major life events that are of high threat potential.
