Information about anyone who has been arrested and convicted but not yet sentenced. Information about prisoners in county jails or city lockups, or about offenders who were sentenced to jail only. Jails are operated by counties. State prisons are operated by the MDOC.
Searching by the number will return information on one prisoner and is the most accurate way to find a particular offender. The Michigan Legislature allows removal of offenders from the website after three years has elapsed from the discharge date. This holds true even if the offender dies.
Some courts, only display case numbers and information for criminal convictions if the sentencing occurred within seven years of the date of search in MiCOURT. These courts are identified with a check mark under the "7-Year Criminal Sentence Filter" column of the MiCOURT case search.
All of the records contained in OTIS are for prisoners and parolees who are CURRENTLY under the jurisdiction of the MDOC, as well as those serving a prison sentence but who are out on writ.
A search result will provide information about any offender who is, or was, in a Michigan prison, on parole or probation under the supervision of the MDOC, has transferred in or out of Michigan under the Michigan Interstate Compact, or who has escaped or absconded from their sentence.
