Linspire can run on any generic PC hardware. So schools and businesses who migrate over to Chromebooks have a surplus of machines that are basically useless and Chrome OS doesnt run on them. With Linspire, Linspire Cloud, or Linspire Embedded you can repurpose older hardware with a modern, supported and updated system.
Naming issues. Linspire was once known as LindowsOS. It changed its name due to legal pressure by Microsoft, who claimed 'Lindows' infringed their Windows trademark. The name was changed two days after a US judge refused to prevent Microsoft taking Lindows to court outside the US.
Linspire. Linspire is arguably the most Windows-like of the Linux distributions I've looked at. In fact, Microsoft made sure they changed the original name from Lindows to the current Linspire. Linspire is available as a download for $49.95 and in boxed form for $59.95.
