In 1924, the Lions Club opened Lions Municipal, the first public golf course in the city. The group leased part of UT's Brackenridge Tract and converted the property into a nine-hole facility. The course was later expanded to 18 holes.
The Muny Conservancy was created to preserve, restore and enhance the 141-acre Lions Municipal Golf Course. We are dedicated to preserving affordable golf, guaranteeing accessibility, celebrating the history of Muny, and promoting the game for future generations to enjoy.

Lions Municipal Golf Course, nicknamed Muny, is a municipal golf course at 2901 Enfield Road in Austin, Texas. The golf course occupies 141 acres of land the City of Austin leases from the University of Texas since 1937 as part of the greater Brackenridge Tract.
