Read LA! is a campaign to ensure that all of Los Angeles’ students can read and thrive. Focused on reversing the decades-long literacy crisis in our city, our coalition of partners will build commitments from leaders throughout L.A. to elevate early literacy as a top priority.
Parent Workshops focused on early literacy. Ready, Set, Read! provides research-based workshops to parents of children ages 0-5, in partnership with early education centers (EECs) across Los Angeles.
A bright, colorful, and welcoming space for young children and their parents. A collection of books, toys, videos, music, and other materials for babies, toddlers, parents, and service providers; Access to resources that emphasize emergent literacy, reading readiness, and parent education.
Families Read Together workshops are open to adult learners who are caregivers to children ages 0-17. Those who take part will learn how to help children with literacy skills. There are also lots of great gifts like books and tickets to local cultural spots.
Literally Healing at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is an innovative reading program that gifts families at CHLA more than 65,000 books annually. During a period when literacy opportunities can be hard to access, Literally Healing helps strengthen reading skills and provides activities, events and story times for patients and their families.
