Grams, Kilograms, and Liters. This interactive math video for elementary children shows the differences between mass and liquid volume.
CCSS.Math.Content.3.MD.A.2; Measure and estimate liquid volumes and masses of objects using standard units of grams (g), kilograms (kg), and liters (l). | Materials Needed • 15 or so containers with water or other liquids filled up and placed around the room • Food coloring (if desired) • Paper for recording
Videos and lessons to help Grade 3 students learn to measure and estimate liquid volumes and masses of objects using standard units of grams (g), kilograms (kg), and liters (l).
Thus, the weight in kilograms is equal to the volume in liters multiplied by the density (in kg/L) of the ingredient, substance, or material. For example, here's how to convert 5 liters to kilograms for an ingredient with a density of 0.7 kg/L. kilograms = 5 L × 0.7 kg/L = 3.5 kg.
The metric base unit for volume is the cubic meter (m 3). However, the liter (L), which is a metric unit of capacity, is used to describe the volume of liquids. Soda is often sold in 2-liter (2 L) bottles. The gram (g) is a metric unit of mass but is commonly used to express weight. The weight of a paper clip is approximately 1 gram (1 g).
24 Ιουν 2022 · Figure \(\PageIndex{1}\): An analytical balance makes very sensitive mass measurements in a laboratory, usually in grams. Other common units of mass are the gram and the milligram. A gram is 1/1000th of a kilogram, meaning that there are \(1000 \: \text{g}\) in \(1 \: \text{kg}\).
