Little Turtle (Miami-Illinois: Mihšihkinaahkwa) (c. 1747 — July 14, 1812) was a Sagamore (chief) of the Miami people, who became one of the most famous Native American military leaders.

15 Ιουλ 2019 · Under Little Turtle’s leadership, Native forces successfully attacked soldiers commanded by General Harmar and Colonel John Hardin on Oct. 20, 1790. The lack of training and skill of U.S. recruits helped give the Native American forces an upper hand.
Little Turtle is often remembered for these early political battles he had with the federal government with William Henry Harrison, who was the first governor of Indiana. He’s also remembered as a diplomat, which is something that doesn’t always translate outside of the community, unfortunately.
