  2. Rite of Confirmation 1 THE ORDER OF CONFIRMATION WITHIN MASS The liturgy of the Word is celebrated in accordance with the rubrics. The readings, however, may be taken in whole or in part from the Mass of the day or from the texts for Confirmation in the Lectionary for Mass (nos. 764-768) and listed below (nos. 61-65). SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION

  3. T he seven sacraments touch all the stages and all important moments of the Christian life (CCC 1210), which include Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders and Matrimony.

  4. This 2016 edition is a retranslation of the 1971 Rite of Confirmation; it follows the guidelines of Liturgiam Authenticam (2001) and the revisions to the Roman Missal , third edition (2011).

  5. The Confirmation Liturgy has its own structure: the Liturgy of the Word, the Rite of Confirmation and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Its integrity must be maintained. Care is taken to allow the Word and the symbolic action of these primary parts of the celebration to stand out, unencumbered by extraneous words or peripheral signs and symbols.

When the Ritual Mass for Confirmation is celebrated, readings are selected from the Ritual, Votive, and Commons volume of the Lectionary, beginning at number 764. Select 1 Old Testament reading, 1. Psalm, 1 New Testament reading, and 1 Gospel reading.
