28 Νοε 2023 · Noble fir (Abies procera) is a tall tree native to Pacific Northwest. Learn about growing conditions, care, and the best cultivars for home gardens.
The Noble Fir, known as Abies procera or Abies nobilis , is one of the largest and strongest of the true fir species and is by far among the best choices for a cut or living Christmas tree due to its dense foliage and strong branches.
Noble Firs are cold tolerant to well below zero, and don’t like a lot of shade. They are among the most wind-firm of all trees, and do very well in highly exposed locations with full sun. With ample moisture, these trees can grow on a wide range of soils.
You can happily keep Noble Fir as a potted plant when it’s young and return it to its natural outdoor habitat the following spring, where it can thrive as the stunning, large evergreen specimen it's meant to be. It is cold hardy in USDA hardiness Zones 5-6 and native to the Pacific Northwest.
