  5. 9 Νοε 2018 · The new technology, which has just gone ‘live’, can tell which seats are free and, by referencing LNER’s booking data, whether a seat is reserved. Passengers can now see the status of a seat displayed above it, and the status of all seats on the train using their mobile phone.

  6. When booking on the LNER website it will automatically assign seats, but there is the option to use a seating plan to check the position of the seat(s) you have been placed in - and more crucially you can use it to select alternative seat(s).

  7. Then using seat self selection, go to the same carriages in which you might have existing reservations, and check whether your exact seat numbers are already taken or not. That might possibly give you a clue on what currently applies for you. Ideally use the full LNER website rather than the app.
