16 Αυγ 2018 · Localized demodicosis occurs as isolated, scaly bald patches, usually on the dog's face, creating a polka-dot appearance. Localized demodicosis is considered a common puppyhood ailment and approximately 90% of cases resolve with no treatment of any kind.
Surprisingly, a dog with demodectic mange may not itch severely, even though it loses hair in patches. The hair loss usually begins on the face, especially around the eyes. When there are only a few patches of hair loss, the condition is referred to as localized demodectic mange.
The first category of demodectic mange is hair loss in small patches most commonly located around the lips, eyes and legs. These patches may exhibit redness and scaling, and usually occur in dogs less than a year old.
