8 Ιουλ 2024 · Localized demodectic mange is most common in puppies. In about 90% of cases, localized demodectic mange in puppies disappears on its own without treatment in a month or two.
Surprisingly, a dog with demodectic mange may not itch severely, even though it loses hair in patches. The hair loss usually begins on the face, especially around the eyes. When there are only a few patches of hair loss, the condition is referred to as localized demodectic mange.

Three forms of demodicosis are seen in dogs: localized demodectic mange, juvenile-onset generalized demodicosis, and adult-onset generalized demodicosis. Localized demodicosis is seen in dogs usually <1 year old, and most of these cases resolve spontaneously.
Symptoms & Signs. Dogs that are sensitive to the demodectic mites may develop a few localized sores / bumps, or the dog may have generalized mange covering a large portion of the body. Most lesions in either form develop after four months of age.
