Last year I entered a poetry contest, not thinking I would win or anything, but in the spirit of putting myself out there. The entry fee was $15 or $20, I can't remember but nothing too crazy. This morning the winners were announced and I received an email stating I had not won.

However, they may ask contestants’ poems to be a maximum of 20 lines.
